Letcher Weekly Arrest Log Limits
Letcher County publishes no multi-day booking archive for the public. The jail's BluHorse roster has a Past Inmate option and date fields. Yet it reports PastInmatesPublic=0. That setting keeps weekly history closed. No sheriff or jail page offers a seven-day, monthly, or downloadable arrest blotter either. What remains are two narrow official views. Books 24hr lists recent bookings. Current Inmates shows who sits in the Letcher County jail right now. Neither screen is durable. Released people drop off the roster, and older bookings pass beyond the 24-hour window while the record still exists. Absence from either list is not proof of no arrest.
Trace Older Letcher Arrests
A sound search moves from narrow official views toward the custodian:
- Check the Daily Arrest Report for the recent intake window.
- Search Current Inmates for present county custody.
- Note the name, likely date, booking number, and arrest agency.
- Ask the jail for a defined date range and named fields.
- Contact the arresting agency for its incident report.
- Use eCourts and the Circuit Clerk for the later case result.
The jail sits at 156 Main Street in Whitesburg, KY 41858; reach it at 606-633-5163 or LetcherCD@ky.gov. Sheriff records: 6 Broadway Street, 606-633-2293.
Letcher Log Fields to Request
Ask for existing fields rather than a custom database.
| Field | Use |
|---|---|
| Booking number | Identifies the jail entry. |
| Book date and time | Places intake in the range. |
| Arrest agency | Routes an incident follow-up. |
| Charge and code | Preserves the charge as recorded. |
| Bond and release | Shows the booking snapshot. |
| Case number | Helps locate the docket. |
| Photo if disclosable | May be available or replaced by a placeholder. |
For amendments, dismissals, pleas, trial results, or sentences, the court record is the source.
Letcher Weekend Posting Gaps
The jail publishes no weekend or overnight posting schedule. A cluster of entries after a weekend can simply reflect intake volume, finished data entry, or when a publisher copied records. Never call that a crime surge. Book time and arrest time can differ, and a news report may run before or after the jail screen changes.
Request Older Letcher Records
Kentucky residents can request nonexempt records several ways. Hand delivery, mail, fax, and email all work. Use precise wording. A sound template reads, "Letcher County Jail booking records for [date range], including booking number, book date and time, arrest agency, charges, and booking photograph if disclosable." Narrow the date range. Ask for an existing electronic format and confirm any fees up front.
Older court material follows a separate route. The Kentucky Court records guidance starts with the local Circuit Court Clerk, and transferred files may sit at the State Records Center or the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.

The capture shows why a jail roster is not a permanent court archive.
Letcher News Arrest Coverage
The Mountain Eagle covers Letcher County weekly, and WYMT Crime posts selected regional incidents. Both are event-driven rather than full arrest logs. This Mountain Eagle story shows how document-based coverage works.

Treat a story as a lead, not a blotter.
Unofficial Letcher Archive Copies
Official sources come first. RecentlyBooked described a 30-day view; Mugshots.zone displayed month archives; Busted Newspaper used a Whitesburg county tag; and Arrests.org offered agency filters. None is a county archive, and each controls its own timing, edits, and retention.
The captured RecentlyBooked page shows its timestamped private presentation.

Those counts are publisher totals, not official county totals, and the Mugshots.zone month pages are simply one publisher's copy.

Do not copy its photos or infer present custody from an old entry.
Match Letcher Arrest Agencies
An older booking search works best when you identify the arresting agency first. The jail holds the detention entry. The incident report may sit elsewhere. It could belong to the Letcher County Sheriff's Office, Jenkins Police, Whitesburg Police, Fleming-Neon Police, or Kentucky State Police. A jail entry does not make every event a sheriff arrest. Nor does the Whitesburg address make every booking a Whitesburg Police matter.
For agency contacts, Jenkins Police lists 606-832-4411. Whitesburg Police lists 606-633-2737 and police@cityofwhitesburg.com. Fleming-Neon Police lists 606-755-7904 and flemingneonpolicedept@gmail.com, though its street address is not confirmed on the state city profile. KSP material goes through the proper post. Letcher County emergency information identifies Post 13 in Hazard at 606-435-6069.
Ask each office only for what it holds. The jail can supply the booking number, book time, custody and release fields, and a jail-held photo where disclosable. The arresting agency holds its own report. The Circuit Clerk holds the court file. Splitting requests this way keeps one empty response from being misread as proof that an arrest never happened.
Compare Letcher Arrest Dates
One arrest can wear five different dates. Police act at the incident time. The jail records its own Book Date and Book Time when it accepts custody. A charge may carry a separate offense date. Court hearings land later still, and a release field can shift once a judge signs an order or the jail processes it. Newspapers stamp their own publication date on top, and private sites add crawl timestamps that describe the publisher, not Letcher County. Copying every one of these into a single "arrest date" invites confusion.
Match the label to the question you are asking. Want to know when police acted? Request the incident report. Want to know when the jail took the person in? Read the booking fields. Want to know how the case ended? That answer sits in the court disposition. This discipline matters most after weekends and holidays, when a private page posts a stack of copied Letcher County entries at once even though the underlying arrests happened at different times.
A good note names its source. Add the access date, the booking identifier, and the exact field label. Record whether the person was still in custody at that moment. That trail explains later changes without pretending an old screenshot is still live.
Follow Letcher Arrests into Court
The arrest log stops where the court record begins. Take a displayed case number into the Kentucky eCourts guest search. Then confirm anything important with the Letcher Circuit Clerk. The county's official court page lists clerk routing at 606-633-7559 and 606-633-1048. Electronic court data is a public access snapshot. It is not a live jail list, and it does not replace the official file.
Booking charges change. A charge listed at booking may change. It can be amended, dismissed, diverted, resolved by plea, or tried. Sealed, juvenile, and restricted cases may stay invisible to the public. KRS 610.340 limits juvenile-record disclosure. So a gap should not be filled from an unofficial site. Sometimes the correct answer is simply that public access is unavailable.
Older Letcher County files take another path. The local clerk may route those requests to the State Records Center. Others may go to the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. Judicial indexes help locate old cases. They are not arrest archives. The Mountain Eagle's historic reporting adds context. A newspaper story remains reporting, though, not the police, jail, or court record itself.
